Four Easy Desserts that Look Hard to Make

Four Easy Desserts that Look Hard to Make

Not everyone has the Martha Stewart or Betty Crocker gene. When it comes to making desserts, there’s often a conflicting need to create something Instagram-worthy and not wanting to spend all day in the kitchen.

Fortunately, some of the best-tasting, most beautiful desserts are quite easy to make. Here are four easy desserts that will make it look like you spent all day baking.

Raspberry Goat Cheese Topped Brownies

Why reinvent the wheel when you can just upgrade a classic? To create these delectable raspberry goat cheese topped brownies, you will need:

  • Your favorite gluten free brownies
  • 8 oz goat cheese (or vegan substitute)
  • 2 cups raspberries
  • 1/4 cup sugar

Blend the goat cheese, raspberries, and sugar together until mostly smooth. Smear the mixture on top of your brownies and chill until it’s time to serve them. For an extra fancy garnish, add a single raspberry and mint leaf to the top of each brownie.

Layered Jello Parfaits

Jello has long been used as a staple in creating gluten-free, fun-to-eat desserts. You can take this time-honored dessert ingredient to make something elegant and delicious. To make Layered Jello Parfaits, you will need:

  • 2 packets of Jello (we recommend strawberry or orange)
  • 2 cups of Cool Whip
  • Fancy glasses

Make one packet of Jello using one cup of boiling water to dissolve the granules, followed by one cup of cold water to help it set. Distribute the mixture between the glasses you’ve chosen and refrigerate for one hour.

Mix the next packet of Jello following the same procedure, adding one cup of Cool Whip and stirring until smooth. Distribute the mixture, layering on top of the set Jello from earlier. Refrigerate for two hours.

As the top layer chills, it will separate into a middle and top layer for an ombre effect. Add a dollop of Cool Whip on top of each glass and serve with a fruit garnish.

Grilled Peaches

Grilled peaches are another fantastic gluten-free option that’s easy to put together, and tastes incredible. To make Instagram worthy grilled peaches, you will need:

  • 4 whole peaches, halved
  • 1 stick butter, melted
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar

Melt your stick of butter, reserving two tablespoons and adding the rest to a bowl. Brush the cut side of each peach with butter and put face down on a grill or oven rack. Cook until softened. Mix the remaining butter with cinnamon and sugar. Once the peaches are done, drizzle the mixture over the peaches. Add ice cream and a mint leaf to elevate this simple-yet-fancy dish.

Mini Rose Apple Pastries

If you’ve scoured through Pinterest, you’ve likely seen the apple pies that are constructed to look like roses. While these incredible dishes look like they were made by a professional pastry chef, they’re actually quite easy. To make these stunning Mini Rose Apple Pastries you will need:

  • 1 package gluten-free puff pastry
  • 1 can gluten-free apple pie filling
  • 3-4 apples (we recommend Honeycrisp or Gala)

Cut the puff pastry into inch-wide strips using a pizza cutter. Thinly slice your apples into quarter-inch slices, avoiding the core while maintaining a half-moon shape with the peel on. Layer apple pie filling along the center of your strips, then add the apple slices at the top with the rounded edge facing out. These should overlap.

Carefully roll the loaded puff pastry, gently bending the apple slices as you go— these will start to look like roses. Add each individual pastry to a muffin tin and bake at 350 until the pastry is browned and the apples are softened.

With these four simple recipes, you’ll be the star of upcoming barbecues, pot lucks, and bake sales.
