Ocean City, Maryland is known for its great beaches and family-friendly entertainment. But in addition to that, it also has some fantastic restaurants including a good number that offer tasty gluten-free options. As you prepare this summer for a fun family vacation, tuck this list away as a reminder why Ocean City, MD is a great place to travel when you?re gluten-free.
Fish Tales
This restaurant is fantastic for families with children! It is set up as a primarily outdoor restaurant with picnic tables in the sand. They have a wooden pirate ship and playground area for the children to keep themselves entertained while you can kick your feet up and relax at the table or in some lazy hammocks and Adirondack chairs. All of which are within easy sight lines to keep an eye on those crazy kids. On top of that, they have an extensive menu that features tons of great salads and gluten-free wraps. They also serve Angry Orchard cider. I tried their kale burger wrap and literally almost swooned in ecstasy. This place will definitely be a must hit every time we return to Ocean City. // www.ocfishtales.com
Rosenfeld?s Jewish Delicatessen
Rosenfeld?s is an authentic full-service Jewish deli that is open year round. They make sandwiches and salads to order and offer gluten-free bread. I was giddy as I bit into my amazing three-tier egg salad club along with an authentic deli pickle. The gluten-free bread actually tasted like bread and it was exciting to partake in the perks of a full-service deli instead of just looking on longingly while my husband stuffed himself. This is a definite can?t miss while in the area. // www.rosenfeldsjewishdeli.com
Mother?s Cantina
This little Mexican restaurant is off the beaten track and located in a small strip mall. However, this is definitely a case where you shouldn?t judge a book by its cover. For starters, this has to be one of the most reasonably priced restaurants in Ocean City. And their food is fantastic! Not only are many of their menu items naturally gluten-free, they are even willing to accommodate you and make anything that is NOT gluten-free available to you by special order. So if you?re looking for a place where you can truly order anything. // www.motherscantina.com
The Hobbit
The Hobbit is a great restaurant to try for a fancy night out on the town. It?s definitely a break from the family friendly atmosphere if you can get a sitter for the night. They have fantastic floor to ceiling windows that offer amazing waterfront views and their menu is fine dining at its best. All of their gluten-free options are labeled and their offerings are quite extensive. There is definitely no deprivation occurring here. Make sure you try their gluten-free crab meat stuffed filet. It?s to die for! // www.thehobbitrestaurant.com
Carousel Hotel and Dining
We actually stayed at this hotel by booking a condo through Homeaway.com. We were extremely happy with the place and the fact that the hotel itself is so family-friendly was a definite plus. They have their own indoor ice skating rink, indoor/outdoor pools, private beach access and tons of dining options. The best part of all is they are extremely gluten-free friendly. I mean, I?m talking gluten-free pancakes available at breakfast and gluten-free bread for sandwiches at lunch. This place is waiting for their gluten-free guests with open arms and willing to make your stay as convenient and pleasant as possible. I highly recommend staying here if you can. // www.carouselhotel.com
