Unorthodox ways of staying healthy

Unorthodox ways of staying healthy

You’ve always heard that drinking more water and staying hydrated will keep you healthy but did you know that taking a glass of wine such as Latour wine 2001 also has health benefits? Here are the top 5 health tips you never hear people talking about:

1.Don’t brush your teeth

You’re not supposed to brush your teeth right after eating. You might think that you need to keep your pearly whites clean but if you brush your teeth right after having acidic food such as tomatoes, citrus fruits (lemon, oranges), sports drinks or soda, you will soften your teeth and aid the acid’s effects on your teeth, eroding it. The best thing to do is to wait at least half an hour to a full hour before brushing.

2.Skip the energy drinks

While there’s more caffeine in energy drinks than in coffee, they also have about 10 times as much sugar. Therefore, energy drinks will boost your mood for a while before making you crash. Leaving you sluggish. Plus, while you’re still buzzing on all that caffeine and sugar, you might get nervous and irritated, all part and parcel of adding the two together. They are a toxic combination and you should steer clear.

3.Talk to yourself

Studies show that when we talk to ourselves, we boost our productivity levels and we gain more confidence. It produces a feel good chemical when we talk to ourselves because it helps us be more at ease with the person we are. Also, if you tell yourself things like “I’m going to eat this very unhealthy snack loaded with sugar”, you will mostly likely talk yourself out of eating said snack because hearing it spoken out loud enforces the idea that it is bad. You can be your own life coach, try it.

4.Spend less time at the gym

Think about it, when you’re on the way to the gym, you’re dreading it the whole way. Why force yourself to do something that you’re not keen on doing? So that you can get in shape or be healthy? There are tons of other ways to keep fit such as doing a sport. Dancing is a great sport as well, and studies show that it helps us get in a healthier state of mind. Find something that you love, try everything, and getting in shape will seem less like a chore and be more like a side effect of you enjoying yourself.

5.Exercise when you are feeling burnt out or tired

It might be the last thing you feel like doing because all you want to do is rest but exercise increases oxygen flow and therefore will revitalize you. So the next time you’re feeling down in the dumps, overworked or simply uninspired, go for a walk or better yet, a run. You’ll feel better in no time! However, if you’re tired due to working out then you should put exercise on the backburner or you’ll risk demotivating yourself even further.
