Gluten-free Nachos with Crackers

Gluten-free Nachos with Crackers

These tasty nachos use gluten-free crackers instead of chips, giving this classic appetizer a fresh new texture. We’ve included our favorite ingredients for these nachos, but we also have a list of alternative toppings that we enjoy, as well. You can throw these together in under 30 minutes, making it perfect for a last-minute party or gathering.

Are Tortilla Chips Gluten Free?

Not all tortilla chips are gluten free so it’s important to make sure you use a product which is suitable for a gluten free diet or someone with celiac disease. Unfortunately all Doritos flavors have a ‘may contain’ warning for wheat so even the flavors which don’t have wheat as an ingredient are NOT safe. This can be due to packaging in facilities that also process wheat products, this can lead to cross contamination.

How to Make Gluten-free Nacho Crackers

Ingredients

  • Simple Mills Fine Ground Sea Salt Almond Flour Crackers
  • Shredded cheese (Any shredded cheese will work, we prefer mozzarella, Cheddar or the Mexican cheese which has flecks of chili in it. Or a mixture of all three!)
  • Black beans, rinsed
  • Avocado, cubed
  • Cilantro, chopped finely
  • Radishes, sliced thinly
  • Salsa

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees
  2. Lay Simple Mills Fine Ground Sea Salt Almond Flour Crackers out evenly on a baking sheet
  3. Sprinkle with cheese and black beans
  4. Bake in the oven for about 5-10 minutes, until cheese is melted
  5. Remove from oven and top with avocado cubes, cilantro, salsa and radish slices
  6. Serve warm!

Nachos are an easy recipe to modify and include your favorite toppings. Some of my favorite gluten-free toppings include:

  • Ground Beef: I use a 90% lean ground beef, but you can use a higher fat content if you prefer. You may want to drain off the fat in the pan after initially frying.
  • Onion
  • Fresh Tomatoes
  • Garlic Paste: Fresh mince garlic or frozen chopped garlic both work too.
  • Paprika
  • Chili Powder: I use hot chili powder but use mild to keep the heat down.
  • Cumin
  • Tomato Puree
